Video: Spike Lee Speaks on Tyler Perry: Calls His Movies “Coonery & Buffoonery”

December 29th, 2009

A while back word had came out about Spike’s dislike for Tyler Perry movies. Well he goes in again calling them “Coonery & Buffoonery”. I happened to like some of Tyler Perry movies (Yeah I Said It). Seem to be made for the women but they are inspirational and don’t seem degrading to me. Spike might be a little jealous of his success. You can also check out Tyler Perry response on an interview he did with 60 minutes here.

Do you really know someone like Mr. Brown or Madea? I do not therefore to me it is over the top and stereo typical of the public humiliation that white people had painted of us in the past. I know we are more talented than that. Black People are experiencing a gradual process of letting our expectations get too low, so behavior that should not or would not be acceptable now has become acceptable. We are at the point now where, it is as if this is just how it is. Nevertheless, this should not be normal. The true way for Black People is to reach for higher heights. Quit dumbing down our culture.

Black People teach your children because THOSE WHO FORGET THE PAST ARE CONDEMNED TO REPEAT IT!
