The Overstanding on the BLUEPRINT 3

October 2nd, 2008 Comments off

The Tracklisting on the internet is completely false, with the exception of possibly Most Kings but even that has been changed as Jay gave Chris Martin the original verse for a Coldplay song. Kanye West produced the entire album with a sound that combines the best of Kanye, Swizz, and Dilla. Think about how Swagga Like Us has the vocal sample with the Swiss Effect, the drums of Dilla by not being on some straight up boom boom bap sound, and the Electronic/European sounds of the keyboards used on the swagger joint.

October 2nd, 2008 Comments off

For the third week in a row R&B singers and hip-hop artists were denied the top spot on the Billboard 200 by rock band Metallica. However, singers Ne-Yo and Joe hold down positions in the top 10.

Ne-Yo’s third album Year of the Gentleman slipped from no. 2 to no. 3 this week, selling 83,000 copies, recording a 67% sales decrease.

At no. 4, the Pussycat Dolls’ sophomore set Doll Domination sells 79,000 copies to debut within the top 5. The set follows their 2005 debut, PCD, which peaked at no. 5, but has since gone on to sell 2.9 million copies domestivally.

Singer Joe made his return to the charts this week with his first album since departing Jive. His new set, Joe Thomas, New Man!, opens at no. 8 with 54,000 copies sold.

Right behind Joe is Young Jeezy’s latest, The Recession, which held down the no. 9 slot with just over 40,000 sold. The album is nearing gold status with more than 450,000 albums sold.
